Nivea Post Shave Balm?

Okay so awhile back, Kathleen Lights was raving about a drugstore primer that she tried. I was surprised when it was a mens shave product! I honestly was baffled and in disbelief that this could keep your makeup in place all day. So I was out shopping one day and my friend picked one up to try and I was like okay maybe I’ll try it too! I mean it was only $5.99 at my local Target so if it didn’t work, it wasn’t a lot of money wasted. So the Nivea Post Shave Balm is supposed to help irritated skin (after shaving obviously). It contains witch hazel, which apparently helps with acne, pores and to clarify skin. I googled more uses and apparently it brightens under eyes, cools down sunburn, fades blemishes and is a natural astringent.

The bottle is made of glass and feels very heavy! The product does smell slightly like mens cologne, which I do love oddly enough. You honestly need the slightest bit so this bottle would last a long time. One thing I wish it had was a pump to make it easier and less messy. When applied, my face had an instant cooling sensation and was left feeling extremely soft and supple. This cologne smell does fade away as well. To put this product to the test, I applied my makeup like normal and went about my day. This product did an excellent job keeping my makeup on and even made the pores near my nose less noticeable. I have issues with keeping makeup on my nose and with the Nivea the makeup there lasted all day. I have normal combination skin so I do get oily in the T zone a bit so oil did come through as normal and it was fine because this product isn’t a matte primer. I’ve been using this as my primer ever since and I love it so much!

After using it for two weeks it has helped with my blemishes and dark spots on my chin (from picking at pimples). I would highly recommend this product if you’re looking to play around and try something new – especially if it can preform like what I usually buy at Sephora for $25+!!!

  1. Thank you for sharing! I am that person who doesn’t usually use primers as I feel they don’t tend to work. You had me at ” no matte finish and helping with blemishes and even out your skin” LOL I will definately try out this product for that price !
    Thanks again !
